Funding for talented skiers and boarders

If you booked up on a normal package ski holiday last year you may have been asked if you wanted to donate a £1 towards helping winter athletes reach their potential. If you did, well done as you have helped contribute to the grants awarded to some of our young talent and hopefully future Winter Olympians. The money went towards the British Ski and Snowboard National Foundation, who have just awarded their first grants out for this season.

The first set of grants totally £16,000 have been awarded to 5 athletes, it will ensure that financial constraints do not prevent talented skiers/boarders from fullfilling their potential. Home nation govenring bodies chose the athletes for the grants.

The talented indivduals awarded the British Ski and Snowoard National Foundation are:

Emma Peters: Ski Cross, 19, Tyne and Wear
Fin Bremner: Freestyle Snowboard, 18, Aberdeen
Lexi Rowlands: Freestle Ski, 13, Chatham
Luca Mai Lane Hopkins: Freestyle Snowboard, 14, Swansea
Owen Vinter, 15, Alpine, Glasgow

So this year if you are booking a ski holiday and asked if you would like to donate, say YES, and it will go towards young talented athletes deserving to reach their full potential. Or alternatively donate directly at http://www.teambss.org.uk/british-snowsports-fund
