Snow forecast in Val d'Isere - Excellent!

There is no need anymore for a snow dance, or praying to the snow lords, Val d'Isere is all over it, taking matters into their own hands, all hale the snow cannons! Last season Val d'Isere was one of the top resorts for snow cover due to world-record production of artificial snow early in the winter. This provided a fantastic base required to elongate the season, and anyone skiing on May 1st will agree that the skiing was one of the best for the time of year. Reports of no snow, definitely not in Val d'Isere.
Val d'Isere have immensely improved their artificial snow making capabilities. At Christmas in 2016 there were reports all over the news of lack of snowfall in the Alps, however they didn't factor in resorts like Val d'Isere who are masters at artificial snow production. With many normal ski holiday customers cancelling holidays or thinking of taking their bikinis rather than their skis, those who turned up in Val d'Isere were extremely happy about their resort choice, plentiful snow on the upper slopes but surprisingly good snow in the lower runs back to the resort.
However, that was last year when snow making facilities were hampered by leaks and legal restrictions on pumping water. This year we expect excellent skiing on the lower slopes. New pipes from above Le Fornet will assist in resolving both problems, and double quantities of snow are apparently promised for next winter. We can't wait!
We may not be able to promise off piste skiing back to Val d'Isere in early December, but its great to know that whatever the weather does Val d'Isère will still offer great piste skiing from November to May.
