BASI Level 1
The BASI Level 1 qualification is the first step on the BASI instructor pathway and provides the foundation for a career in snowsports instruction. Level 1 instructors are trained to introduce beginners to skiing under the responsibility of a snowsports school. They can teach in a non mountain snowsports facility, delivering safe, enjoyable and structured lessons that help new skiers build confidence and develop the fundamental skills needed to progress further. The qualification places a strong emphasis on professionalism, communication and creating a positive learning environment, giving instructors the essential knowledge and practical experience required to begin their teaching journey while working as part of an established ski school.
BASI Level 2
The BASI Level 2 qualification builds upon the foundations established at Level 1, enabling instructors to further develop their teaching skills and technical understanding. Level 2 instructors progress beyond foundational teaching to further develop the learners abilities and movement patterns and can deliver lessons in a mountain enviroment. They play a key role in refining technique and preparing students for more challenging terrain, working under the responsibility of a snowsports school. As instructors gain experience, they are able to work with a broader range of skiers, adapting lessons to suit individual needs while continuing to promote safe, enjoyable and effective learning. The qualification represents a significant step forward in an instructors professional development and is widely recognised as the benchmark for those looking to build a long term career in the snowsports industry.
BASI Level 3
The BASI Level 3 ISIA qualification marks the transition from just an instructor to a highly experienced professional. Level 3 ISIA instructors are highly skilled professionals who can teach and develop learners at all levels, from beginners through to advanced. With an advanced understanding of skiing technique, movement analysis and teaching methodology, Level 3 ISIA instructors are able to adapt their coaching to suit a wide range of clients and learning styles. This qualification demonstrates a high level of technical ability and professionalism and is an important milestone for instructors looking to take on greater responsibility within the snowsports industry.
BASI Level 4
The BASI Level 4 ISTD qualification is the highest level of the BASI instructor pathway and represents the pinnacle of professional snowsports instruction. Level 4 ISTD instructors operate at the highest level, coaching performance focused learners and delivering expert instruction on all terrain. They are also qualified to train and assess instructors within the BASI system, playing a vital role in developing the next generation of snowsports professionals.
